Although Pattie and Tim met through mutual friends at a Mardi Gras event in St. Louis, it wasn’t till their next encounter four years later that romance blossomed. Pattie had lived in Chicago when the couple met, and dreamed of getting married here. She and Tim fell in love with Kimpton Gray Hotel’s historic architecture, stunning Georgia gray marble and especially the ballroom.
On the morning of the big day, Pattie and her bridesmaids relaxed in lovely floral robes as they got dolled up in one of the hotel’s fabulous, spacious suites. Pattie’s wedding dress was an elegant Romona Keveza, while her bridesmaids wore “the perfect shade of blush—not too pink,” says Pattie, for a softly romantic early-spring vibe.
Following the ceremony at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Lakeview, the wedding party returned to The Gray. A short reception took place at Boleo, the hotel’s rooftop restaurant with retractable roof, before moving to the Adler Ballroom. One of Pattie’s favorite moments was stepping into the ballroom before guests arrived. “It was just the two of us, and it gave a chance to stop and truly take it all in.”
The newly united couple celebrated the rest of the evening in the room that had won their hearts from the start. Pure glamour radiated from the Adler Ballroom, decorated with blush roses and ivory centerpieces. Those floor-to-ceiling windows treated guests to gorgeous city vistas. Tim and Pattie spent their wedding night in one of The Gray’s sumptuous suites before departing for their honeymoon in Ireland and France. We count ourselves lucky to have been part of their special day.
