Chicago is the kind of city that brings people together. Take Ryan, a Kimpton hotel concierge who grew up in Wisconsin, and Christopher, a doctor hailing from the Philippines. They met through a friend while out on the town one evening, and this pair holds a special place in our hearts here at Kimpton Gray Hotel. Why? Because their September 2016 wedding was the first marriage ceremony our hotel ever hosted.
Just one month after The Gray opened our doors, Christopher and Ryan opened their hearts to each other in a public way. Wearing identical dark-blue three-piece suits — silver tie for Ryan, gold for Christopher — the pair were the portrait of debonair posing for photographs in Vol. 39, the Gray’s elegant lobby bar lined with hefty law books. The grooms and their families couldn’t have had a better backdrop for wedding photographs than the marble floors, marble walls and marble ceilings of The Gray’s lobby and sweeping dual staircases.
Ryan and Christopher exchanged vows in The Gray’s Adler Ballroom with an intimate gathering of friends and family. At The Gray’s rooftop Boleo lounge, guests enjoyed cocktails and light breezes while being serenaded by a string trio. It was perfect fall weather to enjoy Boleo’s 15th-floor open-air courtyard, thanks to the convenient retractable roof. A seated dinner back in the Adler Ballroom was a refined affair of enticing cuisine and twinkling candlelight. Although this was The Gray’s first wedding, the memories will last for Ryan, Christopher and all their friends at The Gray.
